Background
WINLAB has a state-of-the-art O-RAN testbed, and especially testing and management of energy efficiency. This includes physical O-RU (e.g. Benetel 650), servers and infrastructure to host O-RAN CU, DU, RIC, SMO based on the following major open-source software (OAI/Duranta, srsRAN/OCUDU). WINLAB also has software from BubbleRAN that hosts open-source CU/DU on a Kubernetes system, with some proprietary management features such as SMO, and Kepler energy monitoring functionality.
WINLAB testbed was used for a demo at the O-RAN F2F meetings in Feb 2026 in Rome and June 2026 in Seattle
