A paper on the open-access full-duplex radios in COSMOS Sandbox 2 was published in Elsevier Computer Networks

A paper about the open-access full-duplex (FD) wireless testbed in COSMOS Sandbox 2 has been published in a special issue of Elsevier Computer Networks. This paper outlines the integration of the 2nd Generation (Gen-2) Wideband FD radios into the COSMOS testbed, along with three example experiments demonstrating the capabilities of the Gen-2 FD radios and achievable gains when operating in FD mode.

The three example experiments are the following: (i) demonstration of node-level self-interference cancellation (SIC), demonstrating over 80dB of cancellation achieved in the RF and digital domains across at up to 20 MHz bandwidth, (ii) measurements of packet reception ratio between a pair of FD radios using WiFi-compliant packets with different modulation and coding schemes, demonstrating FD rate throughput up to 2x, and (iii) a random-access ALOHA-based network operating in half-duplex (HD) and FD mode showing FD rate throughput up to 1.5x. These experiments provide a baseline for experimenters to develop further experiments to be run on the Gen-2 FD radios available in Sandbox 2.
